Let’s Put Some New Flesh on Those Bones!

Wretched New Flesh is a large core book with a lot of content and last year we’ve released All Bets are Off, the alternate setting of near-future Lisbon. However, we have not released any new content for Wretched New Flesh since then. Fear not, for we are about to remedy this.

Soon, we will be launching the next instalment of Wretched Verses, titled Press the Flesh. This one-shot scenario, penned by Judd Goswick, transports players to the intriguing locale of Avalidad. Additionally, we will be debuting the first in a series of micro-settings that explore cities within the New Flesh universe. The inaugural setting features Novanexus, a French city inspired by the films of Jacques Tati, such as Playtime, Traffic, and Mon Oncle(admittedly, this may seem like an unconventional source of inspiration for Wretched New Flesh, but strangeness is a vital part of New Flesh).

Right after that, we will release Wretched New Flesh – Orbital Decay a gritty science-fiction sourcebook. Building upon the surreal and nightmarish world of New Flesh, Orbital Decay explores the depths of human ambition, desperation, and depravity as we venture beyond Earth’s atmosphere, establishing orbital stations and colonies on other planets within the solar system. This expansion draws heavy inspiration from iconic films such as Alien, Aliens, Outland, Escape from New York, Stalker, Solaris, Event Horizon, and Pandorum, expertly weaving themes of isolation, claustrophobia, desperation, fear, and horror into the fabric of its narrative.

Wretched Verses Issue 1: Avalidad City Guide

Avalidad is a large district inside Tangiers, Morocco, sponsored by an international conglomerate of several corporations interested in investing in northern Africa. The futuristic metropolis was built from scratch during the late 1950s and early 1960s. In the early days of Avalidad, the City was divided into subzones, each managed by a different corporation. As Avalidad grew and expanded, the need for the corporate districts faded away, and they were repurposed into laboratories, offices, warehouses, and residential areas for their respective businesses. Nowadays, the City is organised around its central business district, the neurological centre of Avalidad.

Wretched Role-Playing – Released

Are you ready to embrace your inner anti-hero and delve into the dark, cinematic world of the Wretched Role-Playing Game? In the Wretchedverse, you’ll get to take on the role of anti-heroes in a variety of settings, from dark fantasy to post-apocalyptic fiction and everything in between.

This is the revised version of the old-school rules that have been used in prior releases by The Red Room. We are now publishing this in preparation for the second edition of the previously published titles, which will be setting books, including some rules variations, instead of full games. You will notice a few changes, but the revised rules are entirely compatible with the first iteration of The Red Room’s Wretchedverse, and this book is easily adaptable to earlier editions of the most famous role-playing game.

To get wretched, you need nothing else but this book and a few dice, though you can find several titles already published for the Wretchedverse. For fans of 1980s Conan rip-offs, Wretched Bastards offers a dark fantasy world to explore. If you prefer spaghetti westerns, Wretched Country allows you to ride off into the sunset as a gunslinging anti-hero. For a more historically accurate setting, Wretched Époque immerses players in a world of horror in 19th-century Paris. Fans of exploitation movies from the late 1960s to the 1990s can indulge in their favourite genre with Wretchploitation. Those who enjoy future noir will love Wretched New Flesh, where you can explore a dystopian Moroccan city inspired by the works of William S. Burroughs, William Gibson, and David Cronenberg. Wretched Space and Wretched Apocalypse offer exciting sci-fi adventures in a sleazy space opera game world and a post-apocalyptic fiction game, respectively. Finally, Wretched Darkness delves into the darker side of human nature with its horror/urban fantasy setting.

These are the ones already available, but other settings are planned, such as Wretched Vigilantes, a street-level super-heroes game world. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or a newcomer to the OSR, Wretched has something to offer everyone.

Also a reminder that until the end of March you can have a 25% discount on a purchase by using the promo code redroomwelcome

Sub Umbra – Released

Sub Umbra is a conspiracy thriller scenario for Wretched Darkness or other modern horror OSR role-playing games. It is a sandbox adventure taking place in Portugal and contains information about several real-world and fictional factions (some of them already featured in previous Wretched books), characters and historical events.

While researching for a book on secret societies and occult sects at the library of a 19th-century eccentric millionaire, a Portuguese journalist found evidence that the Knights of Christ (the order that succeeded the Knights Templar in Portugal) had retained much of the esoteric lore from the disbanded Templars. However, this was merely the surface-level finding. The records of a 17th-century Portuguese knight revealed the Order of Christ’s progress in harnessing ancient knowledge to manipulate telluric currents from the Axis Mundi, the supposed centre of the world or the universe. This discovery has the potential to unlock a power that had been lost to the world. However, the document is incomplete, with several crucial sections missing, leaving many questions unanswered. The whereabouts of the missing paragraphs remain unknown.
