Red Room (Un)Awarded by Portuguese Gaming Con for Wokist Reasons

A couple of weeks ago, the Red Room received an award from a local gaming con, Rolisboa. We found it a bit strange, as we know the people involved in it are mostly wokists; but we do have some friends in the Portuguese role-playing community and didn’t want to be rude, so we accepted the award. Apparently, the wokists made a very amateurish mistake: They forgot to do a background check on The Red Room. Meanwhile, they found out we are “on the wrong side of History” and the award was taken away! I suppose they were afraid to endanger their partnership with woke game publisher such as Magpie Games and Evil Hat (with sponsors like these, no one needs enemies!). Anyway, remember when they say cancel culture is a far-right myth. Yeah, yeah… It isn’t.

Sexual Holocaust is Now FREE at Big Geek Emporium

Sexual Holocaust, the horror scenario that DrivethruRPG would only allow if censored, is now available for FREE at Big Geek Emporium, with a new cover, new layout and naughtier AI-generated art.

So what is Sexual Holocaust? For starters not as “problematic” as I made it sound… It’s mature horror, it’s NFSW, but if you are alright with exploitation horror, you’ll survive it.

This 78-page scenario takes place in a fictional town, Hammettville, known among its inhabitants as Crime City, and it should be set from the early 1970s to mid-1980s, as those decades are more in line with the kind of horror movie being emulated. As with every other Red Room scenario, this is a sandbox-style adventure with enough information and plot seeds to last from a one-shot to a small campaign.

So why are we giving it away? Let’s face it, to sell an independent, niche, mature horror scenario that we can’t even sell at the largest online RPG store is difficult… So, we better turn it into a marketing tool. If you like it, please consider looking at other Red Room products. We promise there are fewer nipples in all the others!

Coming Next From The Red Room: Knuckles of Steel

Knuckles of Steel is a blaxploitation-style scenario for Wretchploitation (or other contemporary OSR games) and the second in a series of others taking place in Crime City, the fictional metropolis introduced in Sexual Holocaust. As an adventure, it is pretty straightforward: A triad crime boss kidnaps his former girlfriend’s sister and uses the hostage to persuade Lois, an African-American model and aspiring actress, to marry him against her will. However, Lois still has a card up her sleeve: A group of brave, determined and wretched friends willing to help her no matter what. A situation like this could be solved in a one-shot, but if you want to prolong it, Knuckles of Steel provides plenty of plot hooks, non-player characters and places in Hammetteville.

Wretched Apocalypse Released (Drivehtru and BGE)

Wretched Apocalypse Released (DrivethruRPG and BGE, it will be available also at Lulu later)

https://www.drivethrurpg.com/…/416311/Wretched-Apocalypse

Wretched is an old-school role-playing game designed to play anti-hero characters in a cinematic setting. In Wretched Apocalypse, the genre is post-apocalyptic science fiction. This book can either be used as a standalone game or as a tool-set sourcebook for any Wretchedverse game, especially Wretched New Flesh, Wretchploitation and Wretched Space.

You can just play it as a conventional post-apocalyptic sandbox or apply it to a space opera game universe. In the first case, the background could be Earth in the future; in the second case, there are plenty of options within colonised space. The setting included in this book is supposed to take place in post- apocalyptic Earth, but it can easily be adapted.

War runs rife calling forth starvation, hunger, cannibalism, disease, scavenging and mutations. There are endless deserts populated with the remnants of humanity. Shanty towns are run by tyrannical regimes. Once, this world may have been overflowing with resources, but now it is a polluted hellhole. Nature is a resilient bitch, though, and somehow she finds a way to break through the decay, rot, and bleak landscapes of a world that would appear to be uninhabited. Could it be pockets of survivors banded together as they fight common enemies? While some sell out their friends and families for a few extra scraps, others join against great enemies. What awaits you and your group remains to be seen… Burst out of your comfort zone and discover something out of this world.

Red Room Flash Sales: 25% Off New Flesh and All Bets Are Off

Today’s flash sale includes the two items in the Wretched New Flesh line. Wretched New Flesh is an OSR adaptation of Postcards from Avalidad, a Postmortem Studios setting. This is a near-future sci-fi/ surreal horror game inspired by the works of William S. Burroughs, David Cronenberg, William Gibson, and Clive Barker. Almost 400 pages crammed-full of information about the bizarre world of Avalidad, with mechanics compatible with the previous Wretched game

The game setting is centred on Avalidad, a futuristic city in Morocco, where corporations have been conducting research in genetics, cybernetics, augmented and virtual reality, and biotechnology. By default, characters are expected to be ZoneSec operatives or executives for Takeda Technologies, one of the most powerful corporations in Avalidad, but other roles such as Avalidad’s celebrities, fiscal royalty and seedy underbelly are also possible.

This book includes the contents of Postmortem Studios’ Postcards from Avalidad, new mechanics, the scenario As Above, so Below and additional information about the city of Avalidad, corporations, technology, ZoneSec and more.

All Bets Are Off is a mini-setting for Wretched New Flesh -Postcards from Avalidad. It adds the city of Lisbon, Portugal’s capital, to the Avalidad game world. Lisbon of the near future is a new entry in the infamous list of gambling and vice cities of the world, such as Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Macao, Monaco and Singapore.

There are several tie-ins to the original storyline through factions in the core book and plot hooks, which demand the characters to travel to the Iberian city. There’s also enough information to make Lisbon an alternative location for an Avalidad ongoing plot.

Wretched Western Bundle Now Available at DTRPG

https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/415689/Wretched-Western-BUNDLE?src=newest_since

The bundle includes Wretched Country

Wretched Country does for the western genre what Wretched Bastards did for fantasy: it’s an old-school game meant for playing anti-hero characters. The spaghetti western, already referenced as a source of inspiration for the OSR dark-fantasy Wretched Bastards, now takes centre stage. In this book you will find: • Wretched rules adapted for playing a western game. • The Devil’s Country, a western-themed horror scenario about an international film crew travelling to Spain to shoot a movie believed to be cursed. • Hellstone, a setting that can be used to run spaghetti, classic or weird west adventures. …

And Coldheart Canyon:

Coldheart Canyon is heavily inspired by John Carpenter’s “not western westerns”, especially Ghosts of Mars; any similarity is not a coincidence but an homage! The adventure is meant to be played as a one-shot, taking place over a single night, from dusk to dawn. The party arrives at a small forsaken town in the desert; they are beaten from the arduous voyage and in need some respite, but what they find is a ghost town. Dudleytown appears empty at first, it seems like everybody has just vanished. Slowly the horrifying truth starts to be revealed. In the canyon, nearby miners have awakened an ancient alien force, that ravenously spread across town. There will be no rest tonight!

And the free stuff, conveniently packed in just one bundle.
