The Red Room’s Work Recognized at Rolisboa 2022

Tomorrow The Red Room will be celebrating its first six months of existence as a publisher. It has been one hell of a (short) ride, with plenty of published work. Yesterday we were at the Lisbon gaming convention Rolisboa 2022 to receive this year’s Hartvig Award, which recognizes the work of Portuguese tabletop gaming creators (for which Miguel Ribeiro was nominated last year, at the time as a freelance author publishing through James Desborough’s Postmortem Studios).
Here’s a video (in Portuguese); we show at about 06:40:00

Orpheum Lofts on Drivethru and 50% Discount on Wretchploitation

Orpheum Lofts (Wretched version) is now available on Drivethru.

Also, there will be a special 50% discount on the purchase of Wretchploitation, the OSR game of exploitation film; just click on this link: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse.php?discount=949775d2a0

Orpheum Lofts

Orpheum Lofts is a thriller/ horror role-playing scenario inspired by Dario Argento’s Three Mothers Trilogy [Suspiria (1977), Inferno (1980) and Mother of Tears (2007)], Polanski’s The Tenant (1976) and Rosemary’s Baby (1968), ’80s and ’90s sitcoms, and romantic comedies. Yes, it’s a strange mix, but it will get weirder… As usual in Red Room adventures, there is no predetermined plot, only suggested ones, and no described scenes; instead, there are many story seeds. Though it was planned for a series of connected stories set in the mid-80s, Orpheum Lofts can easily be turned into a one-shot. The timeline isn’t set in stone either.

This book contains the scenario previously published by Postmortem Studios as part of the Postmortem Giallo series and also part of Her Heart was a Locked Room, and Nobody had theKey: A Giallo Series Companion, adapted to old-school mechanics. If you have purchased those two books do you need this one as well? No, not really.

Wretched New Flesh – Postcards from Avalidad RELEASED

WRETCHED NEW FLESH -POSTCARDS FROM AVALIDAD: RELEASED

Wretched New Flesh is an OSR adaptation of Postcards from Avalidad, a Postmortem Studios setting. This is a near-future sci-fi/ surreal horror game inspired by the works of William S. Burroughs, David Cronenberg, William Gibson, and Clive Barker. Almost 400 pages crammed full of information about the bizarre world of Avalidad, with mechanics compatible with the previous Wretched games.

The game setting is centred on Avalidad, a futuristic city in Morocco, where corporations have been conducting research in genetics, cybernetics, augmented and virtual reality, and biotechnology. By default, characters are expected to be ZoneSec operatives or executives for Takeda Technologies, one of the most powerful corporations in Avalidad, but other roles such as Avalidad’s celebrities, fiscal royalty and seedy underbelly are also possible.

NOTE: When you buy Wretched New Flesh – Postcards from Avalidad you get two files: Two slightly different versions of the core book, the regular one, and the Synthwave, with neon-coloured art and cover.

Wretched New Flesh – Postcards from Avalidad quickstart is almost ready. The full game itself will take a while longer. And though I didn’t really need a cover for this (the Basic Expert will do the real book cover) here’s a different one for the quickstart anyway.
