Double Feature – Released

This module includes two horror adventures easily used without any preparation if you mean to run them in Wretchploitation or any other contemporary horror game. With some adaptation you can run them in Wretched Époque or other games set in the not-so-distant past.
The first scenario, The Old House, is a loose collection of ideas and random tables for supernatural encounters in a haunted place. The second adventure, A Sweet Serenade, is a more structured scenario about a group of characters (that may be vampires, humans or half-breeds, depending on the Game Master’s and players’ preferences), who find themselves waking at dawn, in a strange place, after a night of partying. They may have broken the annual truce among vampire clans by murdering a woman, and now must find out what really happened the night before.

Halloween in July

Remember that awfully offensive horror scenario that was censored by DrivethruRPG? Well, it’s now on promotion on the Red Room’s Ko-Fi shop. If you want to check how offensive it is (or not that much), enjoy this Halloween in July:

Wretchploitation Quickstart Released

Wretchploitation Quickstart Released (Pay What You Want)

This is the quickstart version of Wretchplotation, an OSR game that emulates exploitation movies, from blaxploitation to Eurocrime., This is a condensed and (slightly) censored version: the naughtiest bits are off, since the full version is for mature readers only.

Wretched Country Quickstart Released

Wretched Country does for the western genre what Wretched Bastards did for fantasy: it’s an old-school game meant for playing anti-hero characters. The spaghetti western, already referenced as a source of inspiration for the OSR dark-fantasy Wretched Bastards, now takes centre stage. In this Quickstart version, you will find most of the rules (magic and bestiary not included). The full version also features: The Devil’s Country, a western-themed horror scenario about an international film crew travelling to Spain to shoot a movie believed to be cursed and Hellstone, a setting that can be used to run spaghetti, classic or weird west adventures.

Wretched Overviews Wretchploitation and Sexual Holocaust

Posted on Leave a comment

Sexual Holocaust – Released

Sexual Holocaust is an exploitation horror scenario designed for the Wretchploitation role-playing game. It should be run like a low-budget horror movie with adult themes treated in an extremely distasteful way. The scenario takes place in a fictional town, Hammettville, located in the surrounding area of a large metropolis – such as New York -, known among its inhabitants as Crime City, and it should be set from the early 1970s to mid-1980s, as those decades are more in line with the kind of horror movie being emulated. As with every other Red Room scenario, this is a sandbox-style adventure with enough information and plot seeds to last from a one-shoot to a small campaign. Sexual Holocaust includes pregens and player handouts, so it can be run without much preparation.

You can purchase it from Lulu: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/401534/Sexual-Holocaust?cPath=41674_42439

Wretched Bastards: play anti-heroes in the dark-fantasy, low-magic world of Antillia in this OSR RPG.

Daughters of Darkness, Sound of Madness and The Seven Bastards: three scenarios by Silvia Clemente, set in the World of Bastards.

Scurvy: explore Husks Key and face the wretched crew of Captain Barbafuchsia.

Furry Bastards: anthropomorphic mutant races for Wretched Bastards.

Deviants & Dirty Deeds: pregens and plot-hooks for Wretched Bastards, by Joe Coombs.

Wretched Country: a western-themed OSR role-playing game, especially adequate for spaghetti western-styled campaign.

Wretched Époque: investigate supernatural, paranormal or mundane mysteries in Paris of the Belle Époque (or just be a wretched villain and be pursued by others).

Wretched Époque – Released

Wretched Époque takes place in the period known as the Belle Époque. This is the time and the fictional place where Umberto Eco’s Simone Simonini crosses paths with Jacques Tardi’s Adèle Blanc-Sec, Edgar Allan Poe’s Chevalier Auguste Dupin and Maurice Leblanc’s Arsène Lupin, amidst anarchist bombings, the echoes of the Dreyfus affair, the catastrophic side effects of secret societies conspiring in the shadows and the mysterious results of experiences conducted by mad geniuses. Not yet pulp, not quite historical, it is neither the right time nor the right mood for Steampunk or Dieselpunk. Welcome to the wretched times of Nouveaupunk!

#selfpromosatuday: Wretched Époque is Our Next Release

The next release for the Wretched line is Wretched Époque. It takes place in the period known as the Belle Époque, which is dated between 1871 and 1914, ending when World War I started. This is the time and the fictional place where Umberto Eco’s Simone Simonini – the most cynical and disagreeable character in the History of literature, as the author meant him to be – crosses paths with Jacques Tardi’s Adèle Blanc-Sec, Edgar Allan Poe’s Chevalier Auguste Dupin and Maurice Leblanc’s Arsène Lupin, amidst anarchist bombings, the echoes of the Dreyfus affair, the catastrophic side effects of secret societies conspiring in the shadows and the mysterious results of experiences conducted by mad geniuses.
