Wretched Verses Coming Next Week

As previously mentioned, we are going to start releasing a series of small digital sourcebooks for the Wretched game line, something similar to the RPGPundit Presents periodical. Jae Tanaka (who authored the cover and several inside illustration for the core book Wretched Role-Playing Game) is working on cover for this new series, which will be named The Wretched Verses. We are now finishing the first titles for this series, which will be (at least at first) a weekly release:

Avalidad City Guide: This is a revised and expanded version of the city guide contained in the Wretched New Flesh core book. Description of the city and many characters, with added tables of encounters and locations. The purpose it to make it usable for other future noir/ cyberpunk/ biopunk games.

Welcome to the Den: Drawing inspiration from various literary works, The Den takes you on a journey through the world of opium, delving into the complexities of drug use and abuse. Among the key influences are Thomas de Quincey’s mesmerizing Confessions of an English Opium Eater (1822, revised 1851/52) and William Burroughs’ compelling Junkie and The Yage Diaries, a fascinating correspondence between Burroughs and Allen Ginsberg. To enrich your understanding, we also recommend R.D. Laing’s The Divided Self: An Existential Study in Sanity and Madness, Graham Hancock’s Supernatural: Meetings with the Ancient Teachers of Mankind, Rick Strassman’s DMT: The Spirit Molecule: A Doctor’s Revolutionary Research into the Biology of Near-Death and Mystical Experiences, Robert Tindall’s The Jaguar that Roams the Mind: An Amazonian Plant Spirit Odyssey, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s timeless classic the Sherlock Holmes series.

Life on the Edge: A Journey Through the Borderline: An expansion of the Dark Real of the Beyond, through the Bordeline and the Darklands, the pinnacle of anguish, where existence for many is a barren, winding path of dust.

Still being planned: Vitulyan Chronicles, a scenario for Wretched Bastards, inspired by HBO’s Rome. Vitulya, once a powerful empire, is now a kingdom under the iron grip of Dictator Gaius Vitulius. The land of Vitulya is surrounded by nations like Riget, Scania, Bavarr, Ruz, and Baetica. The scenario takes place during a pivotal moment in Vitulyan history, as the dictator seeks to expand the kingdom’s territory and restore its former glory. Players will be involved in the political intrigues of Quirine, the capital city, as well as the military campaigns against neighbouring nations.

Stay tuned, Stay Wretched!

A Fistful of Blood and Dust – Released

A Fistful of Blood and Dust: Released. A weird western spaghetti by Olivar Tripas (Tears of Belphegor). You can purchase it at The Red Room Store or at Big Geek Emporium (it will be available at Lulu soon in print on demand).

The Indians are not yet completely pacified, the roads are still unsafe for pioneers and adventurers of all kinds, and the unexplored territories are full of gold…or bad encounters. In this realm of unknown and danger, a band of misfits – an alcoholic priest, an ancient cult witch, a bounty hunter, a former sheriff, and an Indian – unite to embark on a perilous journey that leads them from the Canadian border to the Rocky Mountains, from the ancestral Indian lands of the Crow people to the heart of frightening and unknown territories. By combining their strengths and knowledge, they attempt to thwart the designs of the one known as the Profaner, a supernatural entity awakened from a long sleep with only one desire: To plunge the Wild West into an era of unprecedented chaos and desolation.

A Fistful of Blood and Dust – Coming Soon!

A Fistful of Blood and Dust is a short campaign mixing horror and spaghetti western influences by Olivar Tripas (Tears of Belphegor) taking place in the American West at the end of the 19th century.

The Indians are not yet completely pacified, the roads are still unsafe for pioneers and adventurers of all kinds, and the unexplored territories are full of gold…and bad encounters. It is in this atmosphere of unknown and danger that a party of bastards composed of an alcoholic priest, a witch of an ancient cult, a bounty hunter, a former sheriff and an Indian find themselves confronted with increasingly strange phenomena on a road lined with corpses and mysteries that will lead them from the Canadian border to the Rocky Mountains, from the ancestral Indian lands of the Crow people to the heart of frightening and unknown territories. By combining their strengths and knowledge, will they succeed in thwarting the designs of the one known as Profaner? A supernatural entity rising from Inferno, awakened from a long sleep with only one desire: To plunge the Wild West into an era of unprecedented chaos and desolation, to bring true hell to the land.

Also remember that until the end of the month you can purchase any title from THe Red Store at 25% discount with the code “redroomwelcome”. This week, and because we are about to release a new western scenario (A Fistful of Blood and Dust by Olivar Tripas), there’s also a 50% discount on the purchase of Wretched Country and Coldheart Canyon with the code “wretchedwestern”

Stay Wretched!

Wretched Role-Playing – Released

Are you ready to embrace your inner anti-hero and delve into the dark, cinematic world of the Wretched Role-Playing Game? In the Wretchedverse, you’ll get to take on the role of anti-heroes in a variety of settings, from dark fantasy to post-apocalyptic fiction and everything in between.

This is the revised version of the old-school rules that have been used in prior releases by The Red Room. We are now publishing this in preparation for the second edition of the previously published titles, which will be setting books, including some rules variations, instead of full games. You will notice a few changes, but the revised rules are entirely compatible with the first iteration of The Red Room’s Wretchedverse, and this book is easily adaptable to earlier editions of the most famous role-playing game.

To get wretched, you need nothing else but this book and a few dice, though you can find several titles already published for the Wretchedverse. For fans of 1980s Conan rip-offs, Wretched Bastards offers a dark fantasy world to explore. If you prefer spaghetti westerns, Wretched Country allows you to ride off into the sunset as a gunslinging anti-hero. For a more historically accurate setting, Wretched Époque immerses players in a world of horror in 19th-century Paris. Fans of exploitation movies from the late 1960s to the 1990s can indulge in their favourite genre with Wretchploitation. Those who enjoy future noir will love Wretched New Flesh, where you can explore a dystopian Moroccan city inspired by the works of William S. Burroughs, William Gibson, and David Cronenberg. Wretched Space and Wretched Apocalypse offer exciting sci-fi adventures in a sleazy space opera game world and a post-apocalyptic fiction game, respectively. Finally, Wretched Darkness delves into the darker side of human nature with its horror/urban fantasy setting.

These are the ones already available, but other settings are planned, such as Wretched Vigilantes, a street-level super-heroes game world. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or a newcomer to the OSR, Wretched has something to offer everyone.

Also a reminder that until the end of March you can have a 25% discount on a purchase by using the promo code redroomwelcome
