Happy New Year from the Red Room

As we bid farewell to a year of peculiar challenges here in the Red Room, we do a little reflection on the journey undertaken. The year kicked off with the infamous OGL fiasco, accelerating our decision to roll out second editions of all our games. What seemed premature at first, turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The Wretched series benefited immensely, getting rid of excess rule pages for more immersive game settings; also the core rules were in desperate need of tweaking…

The launch of MEN sparked waves, stirring controversy among our beloved stalkers, ultimately leading to our ban from that nearly monopolistic store – you know the one. Yet, in this seeming setback, MEN soared, becoming our top seller and potentially etching its name in the annals of RPG history (we can hope!). The ban from the censorious OBS platform inadvertently set our dark-themed worlds free, allowing them to evolve into their truest forms.

The rise of AI art generators marked a new era for us, fuelling a publishing pace of nearly one release per week. This was a blessing post-ban, helping us retain our footing despite losing a significant portion of our audience. While employing AI illustrations didn’t win us popularity contests, it’s a path we’ve embraced, and it’s here to stay.

We stand here, growing stronger (or at least stubborner) with each passing day. Our content continues to improve, and our store has evolved beyond just Wretched products. With the addition of the Pundit Files, Venger’s free releases, and more, our catalogue is expanding.

We are here to stay, as long as we have your interest and support. Let’s raise a toast to a phenomenal 2024. Happy New Year to all of you who’ve journeyed with us through thick and thin! Have an (un)Wretched 2024.
