New Release: Solo Red

New release! Solo Red brings official solo play to the Red Room role-playing games. For years, players asked for a way to experience Red and Wretched titles without a group or Game Master. This book answers that request with a complete framework designed specifically for solo sessions, co-authored by Abraham Zetina from Talking About Games. Available on itch and Lulu.

New release: Lootbox: Augments and Gear for New Flesh

Lootbox: Augments and Gear for New Flesh gathers the strange technology circulating through Interzone’s markets. Inside you will find biocomputers, surveillance tools, infiltration equipment, utility gadgets, experimental software, and a wide array of biotech augmentations. Note that this book reproduces the equipment catalog of New Flesh, including most of the gear presented in the core rulebook. For that reason, it is not primarily intended for players who already own the main game. Available on Luludotcom and and itch.

Are We Dead Yet?

The short answer is no.

While the pace of new releases has been slower in recent months, work at Red Room has continued steadily behind the scenes. Much of our effort has been directed toward revising several existing titles. As mentioned previously, DARKER, New Flesh, and The End of Innocence are currently undergoing updates and will soon return in new editions. These releases will feature refreshed artwork—entirely human-made—drawn largely from commissioned illustrations and stock material.

At the same time, we have been preparing additional titles for release on Amazon. This process requires some adjustments to layout and formatting, as Amazon’s printing specifications differ from Lulu’s, so several books needed technical revisions before they could be made available there.

New material is also on the way. Among the projects currently in development are two adventure modules: The Patrolman, a horror scenario for DARKER written by Mark Brooks, and Shadow of the Serpent Kings, an adventure for Savage Swords by Shadow. Work is also underway on a solo rules supplement for the Red/Wretched system, written together with Abraham Zetina, designed to be easily adapted for use with other games.

Silvia is completing a pair of new scenarios as well. Beyond that, we will soon begin adapting Wretched Country to the Red system, pushing the game further toward its intended spaghetti-western tone. Wretched Armageddon will also finally be converted into a Red game, and this edition will incorporate the long-planned second part of the setting—the post-war period—which has never been published before.

There’s more in the pipeline and details will follow soon. Stay tuned.

New cover for Soldiers of Fortune

I wasn’t happy about Soldiers of Fortune’s original cover, so I commissioned a new one by Kyousakee and I don’t regret it a bit. Nothing else was changed. If you purchased it through the Red Room or itch you can download the updated file. If you haven’t, I hope the cool new cover will convince you.

Review Raffle: Win a Free Red Room Book

Since many readers understandably dislike writing reviews, but they are essential for helping small publishers reach new audiences, we are offering a small incentive. Write a short review of any Red Room book (a single paragraph is more than enough) and post it on Luludotcom, Amazon, or itch.io. Then send us a screenshot or link by message or email. Early next month, we will raffle a free physical copy of one of our books — the winner may choose any title from our catalogue. If we receive enough entries, we may raffle more than one book.

New Release: Harvest of Youth

New release: Harvest of Youth, a modern investigative horror scenario in which grief, bureaucracy, and occult power intersect. The players take the roles of parents and relatives drawn together by loss, following faint paper trails into the polished offices, medical facilities, and private clubs of an untouchable elite. This scenario was written for DARKER, but it can be easily adapted for other modern horror OSR games. By the way, I hope you like the cover by Anton Sever, as he will be doing a bunch of illustrations for the next DARKER Update!
