Wretched Bastards

An old-school set of rules for playing anti-heroes in different kinds of settings: dark fantasy, horror, exploitation, near future, space opera, etc.

Wretched Bastards

Wretched Bastards is a low-magic, dark fantasy role-playing game. Besides being deadly and bleak, it is meant to be sleazy. The main characters aren’t heroes at all; they are greedy, violent, lecherous, cruel, untrustworthy scoundrels. They will lie, backstab, betray, double-cross, kill, pillage and rape through this grim fantasy world. They aren’t heroes, because there are no heroes in the kingdom of Riget, only a handful in the Kharabas continent, and not a whole lot more in the world of Antillia. In Wretched Bastards, low-budget European sword and sorcery movies meet spaghetti western!

World of Bastards: daughters of darkness

World of Bastards is the name we have chosen for a series of planned scenarios taking place in the Wretched Bastards setting, the world of Antillia. There’s no metaplot, no necessary connection between the scenarios, but a few known characters, places and factions might show up in some of them. The first scenario, Daughters ohttps://biggeekemporium.com/product/world-of-bastards-daughters-of-darkness/f Darkness, takes place in the Var Valey, a once fertile land where the crops are now rotten. The locals believe Lord Percival, an ambitious landowner with delusions of grandeur, has angered Ksenia, goddess of Fertility. Now drop a few bastard characters into this bucolic setting and let them raise hell!

World of Bastards: The Seven Bastards

Years ago a group of lewd and rowdy adventurers, collectively known as The Seven Bastards, was expelled from the village of Fork for their belligerent and salacious ways. But when consecutive bands of orcs start coming down from the mountains south of the village, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake, the locals find no support in their lord, Windom, the Earl of Andril, too distracted with the mysterious disappearance of his young daughter to care about any other trouble. The villagers turn to the only ones who can help them in a time of need, the Bastards.

The Seven Bastards includes:

– A detailed location – the village of Fork – complete with NPCs and enough plot hooks for several sandbox-style adventures

– Seven pregenerated characters

– More information about the Wretched Bastards setting, the world of Antillia, including antagonist factions and ancient history

– Carousing activities for Bastard characters

– Using cards as a random event/ encounter generator

World of Bastards: Scurvy

There are plenty of pirates in Antillia, the world of Wretched Bastards, and the sea life is always enticing scoundrels to set sail on adventurous – and profitable – quests. Scurvy presents you with plot hooks, tables of encounters and stats for marine creatures and other foes. Sail into the Laeppero Sea and explore its islands and secrets. Find out what’s wrong with Husks Key, meet the Dark Elves of Mount Thurgla Vah and fight Captain Barbafuchsia’s pirates.

World of bastards: furry bastards

Millennia ago, Adityans ruled Antillia. They were an advanced space-faring civilization that used this world for their genetic experiments. Through those genetic engineering projects, the Human race was born. But they also designed other creatures, mixing human and animal DNA. That’s how the Furry Bastards came to be.

world of bastards: the sound of madness

In The Sound of Madness, once again, the orc tribes have come down from the mountains south of the Andril river and raided the region’s farms. This happens frequently, but this time it is different. The orcs are now more savage and brutal and seem to be driven by the single purpose of killing the people of Andril.

An old-school dark-fantasy scenario designed for the Wretched Bastards role-playing game. Princess Lisabetta, the precious daughter of the King of Riget, has been cursed by her evil aunt. Between her legs, Lisabetta now has a monstrous carnivorous “octopussy”. To bring the princess back to her natural self, an intrepid group of wretched adventurers must venture into the maze-like Citadel of Berleng and destroy the evil witch. But in a world of bastards, nothing is as simple as it seems and a dark, forbidden secret that will shake Riget is about to be revealed…

On the Westernmost part of Kharabas, one can find the Kingdom of Baetica, a strange and eerie place inhabited by rude and superstitious folk. At the heart of the country stands the Biscaya mountains; they are ancient and mysterious, a place feared by most Baeticans. The ruler of Biscaya, lady Lydia Alvarez, seeks protection from her unruly subjects. What seemed to be an easy job for an experienced group of bastards will become trickier once the party discovers an ancient evil has been unleashed in the mountains. And it must be stopped before it is too late. A scenario inspired by an old Portuguese folk tale, The Got-footed Lady, Richard Donner’s 1985 fantasy tale Ladyhawke and several low-budget horror movies. A dark fantasy scenario for Wretched Bastards or other old-school games.
